Are you in need of roof repair?  If you have experienced a severe rain or wind storm in the past, chances are, your roof suffered some damage.  It could even be compromised due to another issue.  Age or extreme weather conditions give way to roof deterioration.  If you have a damaged roof, you and your family may be at risk.

Not all roof damage can be detected just by looking at it.  Serious health risks may be lurking under normal looking roofs.  It’s important to have your roof checked by a professional who is an expert in the field, especially after severe weather, to be on the safe side.

It’s common for home or business owners to not even know they have roof damage until it’s developed into a costly, inconvenient problem. If water is dripping from your ceiling, you may have waited a little too long. That’s alright though, we’ll fix you right up.

The biggest issue with roof damage is often, you don’t even know it’s there. Most people don’t get up on their roofs very often. Even if you do go up to inspect, such as after a hail storm, a fair amount of roof problems cannot be found by inexperienced people. That’s where we come in. We’ll come inspect your roof as a complimentary service.

If your roof is faulty, it’s going to leak when it rains. That’s a given.  Here are some problems that can be caused by a damaged, leaky roof:

Wet conditions, on the exterior and the interior of your home can cause mold and mildew.  There are over 1,000 types of molds including the deadly “stachybotrys”.  Doctors and scientists are now finding correlations between mold and mildew and many diseases.  Allergies are often aggravated by the fungus too.  Along with the many health risks, mold and mildew deteriorate sheet rock, rot wood and weaken structures.  Even if the mold and mildew are not in public areas of your home, they can spread through the vents.  Mold and mildew are notorious for hiding so…beware.

Since the attic is directly under the roof, it’s one of the first places a leaky roof damages.  Wood can rot and things stored in the attic can get ruined.  If there is no attic, the situation is even worse.  Water can drip onto the ceiling where it can ruin paint, damage fixtures and even causing the ceiling structure to collapse in worse case scenarios.  The most dangerous water damage is that which goes undetected.

Electricity and water are not a good mix.  Water leaking into the attic or onto the ceiling can get onto electrical wires and shorten them out.  Damaged wires pose fire hazards.  If wires are damaged, you will need to hire an electrician to fix them.  Your wires can be getting wet without your knowledge if you have an undetected leak.  That’s really alarming and quite dangerous too.

Wet wood is never good when it is the structure of your home.  Rafters, wall frames, ceiling joists and fascia boards can all be effected by leaking roofs.  Compromised wood can lead to weakened conditions and deterioration too.

When water is leaking, there is danger of someone slipping and falling.  Whether the leak is within your home or pouring from the rooftop onto the sidewalk, there is the risk of someone slipping in it.  Not only do you take a chance on a loved one falling but there is a chance a stranger could walk past and fall and initiate a law suit.
